SAP Live Monitor is the result of 3 years of work in the Performance Expertise Team at GDF SUEZ in Paris, France

I entered as a Senior Developer - 14 years - and Learned about SAP BC and SQL Performance along the way, developing Tools to help the Team Watch our ISU, CRM and BI Systems and address almost daily Performance Problems (3,500 online CRM users)

I soon started developping ABAP Programs to translate the Performance data we were gathering into Real Time, Visual & Interactive Tools .... used every day ever since to Monitor the ISU & CRM

With these growing Suite of Monitors, we identified many problems before they become out of control, found the cause of low System response time, and even warned OBS - Orange Business Services, hosting the Servers - of technical problems before they even find out by themselves ...

Examples:
- "we identified many problems before they become out of control": Bdocs transfer between CRM and ISU can sometimes because so important that both ISU and CRM were experiencing difficulties to hold a normal response time; To anticipate this, I developped a Real Time Bdocs Monitor to identify the source of loads of generated Bdocs and identify how we could smoothen this throuhout the day and not overload the Systems in the dayly rush hours around lunch time (call centers peak)

- "found the cause of low System response time": With the Global Monitor, it was mush easier to identify a problem, just by looking at tit every once in a while; From the CPU going crazy (percentage of SYSTEM part of the CPU abormal) of some Virtualized AS - Application Servers -, the number of Lock Entries becoming alarming on a System, to a SQL Query with a New Plan using a poor performance Index, many times the answer could be found with these tools

- "even warned OBS - Orange Business Services, hosting the Servers - of technical problems before they even find out by themselves": I remember few times, warning OBS - instead of them doing so (!!) - that 2 AS were down, or that the Database was experiencing low response time because of very long Log File Sync activity ...

Last summer at GDF SUEZ there has been a Major  ISU and CRM Upgrade, combined with an Architecture Change, and during the Testing Phase, Launch and Run, my SAP Live Monitor has been used a lot ...

Here is a picture taken in the "War Room" right after the Go Live while we were experiencing Load with our call centers 3,500 online users ramping up slowly to reach the peak at the end of the first morning

My SAP Live Monitor was projected on the wall for everybody to see the impact of the users on the Application Servers Work Processes, CPU & Memory

The Satisfaction of having programmed a useful tool is priceless :-)
